Achievement of DNP VIII Essentials:
-
Common hospital progress note template. I utilized knowledge of applicable patient assessment and planning needs and knowledge of relevant subjective and objective factors to develop a common EHR progress note format. The format is used by all NPs and MDs in the hospital service. I also modified the note template format based on feedback to ensure common acceptance. The common note template helps ensure relevant health factors are assessed and documented and consistent therapeutic interventions are developed. The common format also assists in handoff communications.

-
Blood pressure presentation. I provided education and a presentation on the mechanism of action of different blood pressure medications for the RN staff. The initial presentation was supporting a need in the clinic and was completed as part of a clinical rotation in my MSN program. I later updated the presentation and provided it recently to cardiology RN’s.

Education. Continual, as applicable, education of hospital cardiology floor nurses regarding ECG / telemetry evaluation, medications, and assessment. There are no specific documents to associate with this as it occurs on a frequent basis in the hospital based on nursing requests and needs.
